
First Aid Training
Senior first aid training aims to develop the knowledge and skills for a person to manage emergency first aid situations and deliver competent emergency care until the arrival of professional medical support. The course includes CPR.
Noosa Heads SLSC’s apply first aid course is delivered under the Australian Quality Training Framework and is nationally recognized. The Australian Resuscitation Council recommends that First Aid certificates be renewed every three years and CPR be renewed every 12 months.
Duration:
- 16 Hours (Full Course)
- 8 Hours (Self Paced Learning. NB: This requires theory and workbook to be completed in advance)
- 8 Hours (Update every three years)
Course Content:
- Apply the principles of first aid
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Asthma & Anaphlaxis Management
- Treatment of infection, shock, fractures, bleeding and burns
- Emergencies dur to lack of oxgygen, excess heat or cold, heart attack, strock, asthma, diabetes and epilepsy
- Management of common medical emergencies
- Treatment of poisoning including venomous bites and stings
Methods of delivery:
- Full Course - 16 hours face-to-face training and assessment
- Self Paced Learning - 8 hours face-to-face training and assessment, with theory and workbook completed prior to starting course
- Update - 8 hours of face-to-face training and assessment
Pre-requisites:
- The minimum age requirement is 15 years of age
Certification:
Upon successful completion the training and assessment participants will obtain a nationally accreditted Statement of Attainment in the following unit of compentency:
- HLTFA301A - Apply First Aid
which incorporates the content of:
- HLTCPR201A - Perform CPR
- HLTFA201A - Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
