
Lifesaver Training & Proficiencies
Noosa Heads SLSC offers a variety of training courses to new & existing members. The minimum requirement to be an "Active" patrolling member is the Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) Bronze Medallion which also provides you with a Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue). Following the Bronze Medallion members are encouraged to gain specialist awards such as:
- Operational First Aid;
- Advanced Resuscitation Certificate (ARC);
- Defibrillation Certificate;
- Radio Operators Certificate;
- All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Induction;
- Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) crewpersons and drivers certificate;
- Silver Medallion Basic Beach Management course to become a Patrol Captain;
Training - Bronze Medallion
The pre-requisites for the Bronze Medallion are:
- Must be able to complete a 400 metre pool swim in 9 minutes or less
- Be 15 years of age by completion of the course
Bronze training is generally held over a 6-7 week period with dry sessions (theory, first aid & CPR) on a weekday evening and wet sessions (surf activities & rescue practice) on a weekend morning.

Training fees are: $120 for adults - 18 years + (does not include membership); $50 for youth - 15 to 17 years old (does not include membership). Fees include all training, manual and workbook, patrol uniform and refreshments to celebrate your success after assessment.

Current members who wish to complete advanced awards or update an award are encouraged to contact the club Education Manager so a course can be arranged.
Proficiencies
All patrol members are required to complete a proficiency by the end of the year.

When you have decided upon suitable times for you to complete you proficiency please book in with administration or call admin on (07) 5474 5688 (option 2).
A pool swim must be completed before you can participate in any wet work. The pool swims must be done on a club swim night at GSLC pool - Mondays & Thursdays 6 -7pm.
