About Nippers
Noosa Nippers is held on Sunday mornings from September to March each year.
All nippers must have completed a pool swim competency before they are able to participate in any nipper activities. If you have not yet done a pool swim please download the following form and have it signed by a qualified swim coach. Nipper Swim Form.... The completed form should then be lodged with club administration.
Each Sunday begins with a short meeting on the beach at 7.45am. The location generally is Main Beach in front of the clubhouse however this will vary depending on weather and beach conditions. All children and parents are required to attend these meetings as it is a great way to find out what is happening in the club and how the morning will be run. All nippers should assemble with their age groups and Age Managers at this time.
After the meeting, parents must sign the children on forthe morning with their Age Managers and then remain at the beach for safety reasons in accordance with SLSA Policy. Once signed on everyone shall proceed to their designated areas for the commencement of the program forthe morning.
Any child who arrives to sign on without a parent/guardian present, unfortunately, will not be allowed to participate in nipper activities for the morning. No child should be left on the beach unsupervised by a parent/guardian.
Age Managers require assistance with water safety and with teaching the children skills however only qualified water safety officers may assist with water activities and only members who hold a Blue Card (suitability for working with children check) are allowed to assist on the beach. Consequently, at least one parent is required to help out. Training is provided for parents wanting to become water safety officers. Please ask your Age Manager how you can help.
Nippers generally finishes around 10.00am. Under 6 and under 7 nippers finish a little earlier.
